About Emma

Success should never come at the expense of your wellbeing,
your relationships or your sense of self

Emma Northway, founder of The Lumora Practice

For more than 20 years, I’ve supported people through change, pressure and some of the most challenging moments in their personal and professional lives.

Today, I combine over two decades of executive leadership, coaching and mentoring experience with evidence-informed Clinical Solution Focused Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy, helping women create meaningful, lasting change that allows them to thrive both personally and professionally.

Why The Lumora Practice?

I’ve always been fascinated by people; what drives us, how we respond to life’s challenges and what enables us to grow.

Before retraining as a Clinical Psychotherapist, I spent more than twenty years in senior leadership and global HR, including executive roles supporting international organisations. Throughout that time, I coached, mentored and supported leaders, managers and professionals through organisational change, career progression, difficult conversations and some of the most demanding periods of their working lives.

Again and again, I noticed the same pattern.

Many of the people I worked with were highly capable. They were respected, successful and the people everyone relied upon. Yet behind the scenes, many were quietly carrying stress, anxiety, self-doubt, burnout or an overwhelming mental load.

Not because they lacked resilience.

But because they had been carrying too much, for too long.

Like many of the women I now support, I’ve also experienced the challenge of balancing senior leadership, family life and the competing priorities that come with trying to do everything well. I understand how easy it is to become so focused on looking after everyone else that your own wellbeing quietly slips down the priority list.

Those experiences shaped a belief that continues to guide everything I do.

I wanted to combine my passion for psychology with everything I’d learnt supporting people in high-pressure environments. Retraining in Clinical Solution Focused Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy gave me the opportunity to bring those two worlds together and create something that felt genuinely different.

The Lumora Practice was born from that vision.

A place where evidence-informed psychology, neuroscience and real-world leadership experience come together to help women create meaningful, lasting change.

How I Work

My work sits at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience and real-world leadership experience.

My approach is grounded in Clinical Solution Focused Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy, drawing on the latest understanding of neuroscience while focusing on your strengths, your resources and the future you’d like to create. Because of its practical, forward looking nature, many people being to notice positive changes quickly.

Rather than analysing every detail of the past, we’ll work together to understand what’s already working, identify what’s getting in the way and build practical, sustainable changes that help you move forwards with greater clarity and confidence.

What it’s like to work with me

You won’t be expected to have all the answers.

My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life or to ‘fix’ you. It’s to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, share evidence-informed insight and create a calm, supportive environment where you can reconnect with your own strengths and move forwards with confidence.

Whether you’re navigating a demanding stage of your career, a significant life transition or simply want life to feel lighter again, my aim is always the same:
